Laila Ali: From Knockouts to Spices
By Gail Nobles 5/17/2025
Well, you know, it’s funny the turns life can take. We’re so often pigeonholed. Laila Ali was in the boxing ring and expected to stay there. But Laila, daughter of the legendary Muhammad Ali, she’s never been one for staying put. She delivered knockout punches in the ring, and now, it seems, she’s delivering knockout flavors in the kitchen.
Yes, Spice-A-Lā, is what I call her, has traded in her boxing gloves for… well, spice blends. And who’s to say she can't? She’s clearly a woman with, as you say, a lot of spice in everything she does. It’s a fascinating transition, really. From the discipline and intensity of professional boxing to the, dare I say, equally demanding, but certainly more fragrant world of creating the perfect blend of herbs and spices.
You can find all the details, of course, over at her website https://lailaali.com/ And it makes you wonder, doesn’t it? What inspired this change? Was it a lifelong love of cooking finally given the opportunity to bloom? Or perhaps a desire to connect with her fans in a different way?
Whatever the reason, she has shown us that we are not defined by just one thing. Laila Ali, a champion boxer, a television personality, and now… she’s selling fine spices. It just goes to show, the most interesting lives are often the ones with a dash of the unexpected. And that is something worth savoring.
